Foundation Year

International Foundation Programme

High school qualifications and certificates as well as Baccalaureate certificate awarded in North Africa do not guarantee direct entry to undergratute programmes in UK universities. All students from the Middle East and North Africa, thus, are required to undertake to undertake an approved international foundation course (usually last between 6 and 9 months) as a pathway to Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts programmes.

Different undergraduate programmes in different universities site different entry requirements. Speak to us about your preferred subject(s) and we will be able to guide you.

Different foundation programmes

There is an array of foundation programmes which range from general to subject specific (like foundation for law, foundation for engineering or foundation for medicine). Most universities require applicants to pass an approved general foundation programme but some require attending their in-house  programme or a subject specific one.

The foundation programme for UG studies

A foundation programme is generally seen as a pre -university programme designed to prepare students to enroll in a UK university for undergraduate programme. Some universities run their own in-house foundation programme but some renown colleges and language centers offer three term programme which start in September or a two term fast track which start in January. Talk to our counsellors and get more insights about these courses.

International foundation programme mainly focus on developing students’ language skills (writing, speaking, listening, and comprehension skills) and other subjects to prepare them for their preferred undergraduate studies. In some special circumstances, some universities accept work experience in lieu of enrolling in foundation programme. Speak to our counsellors about this.

Pre-Masters Programme/ Master Foundation Programme

Generally speaking Pre-Masters programmes are considered subject specific pathways with academic and English language components designed to prepare international students for postgraduate studies. These programmes are meant for those students who desire to change their academic disciplines or for those who have not fully met the requirements to get direct acceptance. They are ideal courses to develop one’s background in specific area as well as their academic and linguistics competence. Upon successful completion of these courses, students will be automatically accepted on their preferred postgraduate courses.
